Beautiful Feet

PASSAGE FOR THE DAY:
Romans 10 (click the link)

KEY VERSES:
How, then, can they call on the one they have not believed in? And how can they believe in the one of whom they have not heard? And how can they hear without someone preaching to them? And how can anyone preach unless they are sent? As it is written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!” (Romans 10:14-15, NIV)

REFLECTIONS:
In reading Romans chapter 10, I first was drawn to the idea that the end of "the Law" destroyed the necessity to focus on works. However, further down in the chapter, what jumped out at me was not only on the fact that "everyone who calls on the name of the lord will be saved." This is the good news! We need not worry about what race we are, or our financial status, our looks, our family tree, or how well we perform in order to have a relationship with God.

Paul goes on to say, “And it is written, ‘How beautiful are the feet of those who bring good news!’” That is a statement of fact. Not only can we rest assured that not by works but by faith are we saved, but also we will be further blessed if we announce the good news to others. And by our feet—implying movement and action—we will be seen as beautiful.

So often I can focus on everything but those two simple facts. I can be blessed if I call upon the Lord, and blessed if I just share that good news that the Law is gone and Grace abounds. I don't have to "teach" scripture to bring good news. I just have to announce it. It is the Lord God who saves. I need to just put my feet in action and go (where HE leads).

APPLICATION:
Where I think this leads me is to accept the words of verse 11 which say if I do so trust then I will not be put to shame. I just need to proclaim the good news wherever I go and wherever I'm lead.

PRAYER:
Lord, lead me to be your feet, go where you want, say what you want, and announce the good news each day.

WHO AM I?
I'm Edd, just a wayfaring stranger in this land. I'm older than some, younger than others, and stranger than others in many ways. I live with two cats, two dogs, wife and a daughter. There is rarely a dull moment at home. I'm also a procrastinator… But, most importantly, I'm part of "a peculiar people" with a purpose and destiny.
