Jesus Changed Everything

KEY VERSES:
Or do you not know that wrongdoers will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor men who have sex with men nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God. And that is what some of you were. But you were washed, you were sanctified, you were justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the Spirit of our God. (1 Corinthians 6:9-11, NIV)


REFLECTIONS:
Immoral. Idolater. Adulterer. Prostitute. Homosexual. Thief. Lover of Money. Drunkard. Slanderer. Swindler. That’s the sampling of lifestyles that Paul gives before his statement in today’s passage, “And that is what some of you were.” Then Jesus changed everything.

You were washed: The filth of our sin was washed away by the rebirth made possible by Jesus and brought about by his Spirit.

You were sanctified: By the work of Jesus you were set apart as the Father’s prized possession.

You were justified: The Judge of Heaven and Earth declared you “Not Guilty!” and “Righteous!” based on your faith in Jesus Christ.

Thank God for the grace of recovery. Jesus meets us right where we are... and then changes everything from the inside out!


PRAYER:
Lord Jesus, thank you for meeting us where we were, accepting us for who we were, and making us who we are. We celebrate your grace!
